NVIDIA Prioritizes RTX 5060 Series GPUs Over Rest of Lineup, RTX 5090s Selling Above $3500 1

NVIDIA has put the majority of its RTX 50 lineup on the back foot as it now prioritizes the RTX 5060 series over everything else.

NVIDIA Focuses Production Lines Towards RTX 5060 Series, Other RTX 50 GPUs To See Reduced Supply & Higher Prices

Given the ongoing memory crisis, GPUs from all manufacturers are seeing their prices rise. At the same time, GPU makers are prioritizing production lines towards AI chips, and that has led to further stress on the consumer gaming segment.

As per the latest industry report from Board Channels, it looks like NVIDIA has laid out a plan to traverse through these dire times. It looks like NVIDIA will be adjusting its supply from the higher-end RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB GPUs to the more entry-level RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB and RTX 5060 8 GB graphics cards. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, both utilize 16 GB GDDR7 memory, while the cards that NVIDIA is going to focus its production towards come packed with 8 GB VRAM.

NV RTX50 series clarifies 2026 logistics model supply strategy

Due to the impact of high-priced memory chips in later stages, NVIDIA made appropriate adjustments to the RTX 50 series product line structure in 2026. They reduced shipments of the RTX 5060 Ti 16G and 5070 Ti series models and readjusted the supply strategy for the future main RTX 50 series models.

The sales strategy will focus on increasing the sales share of the following two models:

NVIDIA and AIC brand manufacturers will readjust the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti 8G series as the main products with significant logistics impact. These are also confirmed as the two key models for NVIDIA RTX 50 series sales in the Chinese market. The RTX 5060 series will still have the largest supply share, followed by the RTX 5060 Ti 8G series. At the same time, it was confirmed that the possibility of further cost increases in the next quarter cannot be ruled out.

It is likely that procuring higher-density modules or more modules in general for larger bit-size cards is becoming unfeasible. As such, NVIDIA has planned to stick with the more cost-effective 8 GB models as these require just four modules rather than 8 modules on the 16 GB models. The report states that while this will allow NVIDIA to fulfill a decent supply to its partners for regional markets, it can't rule out a further price hike in the coming months.

It should be stated that NVIDIA is reportedly working on increasing the production of its older RTX 3060 8 GB GPUs to meet some market demands in entry-level market regions. The company also hasn't ruled out bringing older GPUs back into production, along with newer variants that might introduce the latest tech, such as DLSS support, etc.

Meanwhile, existing NVIDIA RTX 50 series models, such as the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and the RTX 5070 Ti, have all shot up. For example, at Newegg, you can't find an RTX 5090 below $3500 US anymore, and most models are selling close to $5000 US, which aligns with previous reports. The RTX 5080 is selling for $1200+, the RTX 5070 Ti is selling for $830 US+.

The following is how NVIDIA's RTX 50 graphics card prices stack up at Newegg and Amazon:

Most RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards are back at MSRP. These cards were available below MSRP throughout Q4 2025, but the memory shortages and price hikes have now led to much higher prices. It looks like things will get worse from here as there is no stopp of the memory crisis in sight and until more factories set up to produce memory modules (which won't happen overnight), we can expect to become the norm till at least late 2027 or early 2028.
