AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Grabs Fourth Spot In Best Selling CPUs List On Amazon Despite Selling For $349
It's hardly been a month since the launch of AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th anniversary edition, and we are already seeing the CPU in the best-selling CPUs list at major retailers. It was obvious since the Ryzen 5000 series witnessed a good demand due to a large section of PC builders transitioning to the previous-gen AM4 platform due to the current RAMpocalypse.
However, we didn't expect the 5800X3D to do so well in sales. At the moment, the processor is selling for a MSRP of $349, which is somewhat high, considering it's an older-gen processor based on the Zen 3 architecture, while better-performing CPUs are already in the same price range. Despite a high price tag, it appears that users are willing to pay the amount as they want the best possible gaming performance on the AM4 platform.
It's clear from the sales stats that Ryzen 7 5800X3D is destined to remain among the top 5 best-selling CPUs for a long time. As per the current Amazon's Best Selling CPUs list, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary edition is at the 4th spot, even outselling the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, which sits at the 5th position. Both are selling for nearly $350, but given the performance of the 7800X3D, it's surprising to see the 5800X3D surpassing the latter in sales.
AM4's popularity is a major factor here, and considering millions of gamers around the globe still own an AM4 platform, they are upgrading from older Ryzen processors to the best available option. In just one month, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D managed to sell around 3,000 units, while the 7800X3D trailed behind with 2,000 units shipped. This success is not exclusive to Amazon, but can also be seen on Newegg, where the AM4 champion enjoys the number one position in best-selling CPUs.
That said, on Newegg, users can even obtain a free 240mm AIO cooler at the same price tag, which makes purchasing the 5800X3D much more sensible on Newegg. However, if Amazon also bundles a free part with 5800X3D for the same price, we could see the processor jump from 4th position to either 1st or 2nd.
