NVIDIA's High-End GeForce RTX 5080 GPU Might Hit The Retail A Few Weeks Later After the CES 2025 Showcase
Just a few days are left before the CES event commences. NVIDIA will hold its presentation at the event on 6th January, where the CEO Jensen Huang will hold the CES opening keynote. This is the event where NVIDIA is expected to showcase its Blackwell gaming GPU lineup.
According to recent leaks, NVIDIA will launch its GeForce RTX 5080 card before the RTX 5090, which is unusual since it usually unveils the flagship GPU. Now, another report suggests that the RTX 5080 will be launched retail in the second half of this month.

According to HKEPC (@hkepcmedia), the GeForce RTX 5080 will be available for purchase on 21st January. This is roughly two weeks after NVIDIA unveiled the card on 6th January. As far as the RTX 5090 is concerned, there is nothing that indicates its official launch date. The card may launch alongside the RTX 5080 or may launch a bit later this month, but these are all speculations.
The GeForce RTX 5080 will be a high-end gaming GPU, succeeding the RTX 4080 from the Ada lineup. It will bring the GB203-300-A1 die and will feature 10,752 Cuda Cores. It will retain the same 16 GB VRAM capacity but will bring faster GDDR7 memory modules, running at 30 Gbps, which is supposedly even higher than the memory speed on the RTX 5090.
With a memory bus width of 256-bit, the RTX 5080 is expected to deliver about 960 GB/s of memory bandwidth, which is 34% higher than the RTX 4080 and 30% higher than the RTX 4080 Super. With that, it's expected that the card will bring a TBP increase of 80W over the predecessors and a possible price increase, as we saw in recent rumors. However, it's best to wait until CES to find out the exact MSRP and performance before we conclude.
