Benchmarks of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU have been leaked and it shows up almost as fast as the RTX 4070 Ti.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU Benchmarks Confirm Specs, Performance Reaches RTX 4070 Ti Levels
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is going to be the entry-level product within the RTX 40 "SUPER" lineup. The graphics card is going to compete against the Radeon RX 7800 XT which directly targets the 1440P+ segment with a 16 GB VRAM. The RTX 4070 SUPER GPU upgrade is designed to make it reach near RTX 4070 Ti performance but at pricing that retains a very competitive nature against its rivals.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Specifications
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is expected to come in AD104-350 or AD103-175 SKU (PG141 SKU 335) configurations with the same 7,168 cores across both variants. The GPU is expected to get 48 MB of L2 cache. It looks like this card would stick with the 12 GB GDDR6X memory across the same 192-bit bus interface. For the RTX 4070 SUPER, the card will have a 20W higher TBP than the existing 4070 at 220W.
As for the performance, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER should end up being around 14% faster than the RTX 4070 Non-SUPER. The graphics card will also get the new CEM 5.1 Gen5 power connector. The existing RTX 4070 graphics cards either come with an 8-pin connector or a 12-pin power connector (supplied with an adapter).
In terms of performance, the GPU scored 195,384 points in the OpenCL tests and 219,237 points in the CUDA tests within Geekbench. Based on the OpenCL performance, the card sits ahead of the RX 7900 XTX and is -5.5% slower than the RTX 4070 Ti. When compared in CUDA, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER offers 98% of the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti which is very impressive but we have to mention that these are just synthetic benchmarks and actual gaming performance might yield different numbers.
Geekbench 6 OpenCL Benchmark
Geekbench 5 CUDA Benchmark
When compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Non-SUPER, the SUPER variant ends up with a 15% performance uplift in OpenCL and a 18% performance uplift in the CUDA benchmark tests.
Still, reaching the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti performance at a lower price tag would mean that the RTX 4070 SUPER might be tackling two birds with one stone. The RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 GRE are recent entrants from AMD that are doing well in the retail market but a lower priced RTX 4070 SUPER which offers 4070 Ti performance may end up being a surprise hit. The card is expected to be unveiled next week at NVIDIA's CES 2024 "Special Address" so stay tuned for more.
