NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Specifications Sheet Leaked, Benchmark Slide shows GK104 could end up being 40% Faster than HD7970
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Specification sheet has been leaked along with a new Benchmark Slide which suggests that the card could end up being 40% faster than Radeon HD7970. The GeForce GTX 680 would be based on the 28nm Kepler GK104 chip and is said to launch on March 22nd-23rd.
Most of the specifications match what we posted in our detailed article here expect the clock frequencies. As we already know GK104 would offer 1536 Stream Processors, 128 TMUs, 32 ROPs and a 2GB GDDR5 memory running across a 256-bit wide interface. The clock of the GPU would be set at a stock frequency of 1006Mhz and Boost Clock of 1058Mhz which is a new Dynamic Overclocking feature, Memory runs at 1500Mhz (6Ghz Effective QDR).
We saw from the leaked photos that the card is powered by two 6 Pin connectors featuring a new stacked design, TDP is confirmed at 195W. Other features include support for DX11.1, Quad Way SLI and PCI-e Gen 3. Display outputs include 2 DL-DVI, HDMI and Display port 1.2 (Full length). Retail price is suggested around $549.
Along side the leaked spec sheet, NGF community have also posted an alleged benchmark slide of the card which pits the GeForce GTX 680 dubbed as the "Worlds Fastest DX11.1 GPU" against the HD7970 and HD7950 Tahiti Graphic cards in various games. As the article states, GTX 680 ends up being 40% faster than the HD7970 GPU in most benchmarks, HD7950 is down somewhere at the bottom. One benchmark which should be taken to note is Battlefield 3 (4xAA) which amounts to almost 45% performance gain for GTX 680 over HD7970, It could be due to the latest update which offered gain in performance for Nvidia users.
