Nvidia announces GameWorksVR alongside the Release of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti

Nvidia announced GameWorksVR, a software development kit for Virtual Reality (VR) headsets. Nvidia states that GameWorksVR will “blaze the trail for VR” and “help VR headset and game developers build incredible experiences on GeForce GPUs”.

GameWorksVR is a software development kit for Nvidia GPUs with which game developers can push the limits of VR and create incredible gaming experiences.

Nvidia notes:

“GameWorks VR combines features we announced back at GDC 2015 under the banner of VR Direct with new and enhanced capabilities.”.

VR headset development company Oculus is excited about Nvidia GameWorksVR, especially the “Direct Mode" feature listed above.

“Excited to see NVIDIA’s GameWorksVR announcement today! Direct mode will help enable plug-and-play compatibility between Rift and GeForce.”

Oculus has announced the recommended requirements for the consumer version of its virtual reality headset the Oculus Rift. The Oculus Rift will require an Nvidia GTX 970 or an AMD 290 GPU and an Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater CPU for the optimal experience.
