Live gaming events haven’t quite recovered following COVID-19 disruptions, with this year’s E3 recently being canceled (possibly spelling the permanent end of what used to be the biggest event on the gaming calendar). Thankfully, those looking to experience new Nintendo games and other fun activities with like-minded fans are in luck, as the company has announced Nintendo Live 2023 is coming to Seattle sometime in September.

Nintendo Live 2023 will mirror similar events held in Japan, with the company promising “fun gameplay, live stage performances, exciting gaming tournaments, memorable photo ops and more.” The event will take place a “large-scale themed area,” likely outdoors (although they’ll have to hope for the Seattle weather to be uncharacteristically nice). Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser had the following to say about the event…

“Fans of all ages can currently experience the unique games, characters and worlds of Nintendo on Nintendo Switch, but we want to expand that scope with a new experience. With Nintendo Live 2023, we’re giving attendees a chance to celebrate together with family, friends and the broader Nintendo community in the spirit of fun and creating long-lasting memories.”

Of course, the announcement of this event will no doubt have fans speculating about what this might mean for Nintendo’s late-2023 plans. Now, this isn’t an E3, so don’t expect any big reveals to take place at the event itself, but the fact that they’re putting on such a big to-do may indicate that they plan to have other big things happen in the same timeframe as the Nintendo Live. At the very least, it seems like a hint that those rumors Nintendo would have a somewhat subdued late 2023 in terms of releases and announcements were likely false.

Again, Nintendo Live 2023 takes place in Seattle sometime in September. A specific date and details on how you can get tickets have yet to be revealed, but you can check out the event's official website here. What do you think? Interested in getting in on the Mario-related festivities? How far would you be willing to travel to do so?
