The Ryzen 9850X3D is expected to be priced around $500, according to the latest listings, but this price is subject to change.
Upcoming Zen 5-Based Ryzen 7 9850X3D Processor Listed on US Retailer for $511
The newer 8-core/16-thread bigger sibling of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is expected to bring a similar price tag if you consider the recent listings. AMD's new Ryzen 9000X3D processors, which include the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, have been in the leaks several times, but it's mostly the Ryzen 7 9850X3D that shows up on various websites and retailers.
Very recently, it was added to HWMonitor's database and was listed on a US retailer at nearly $550. Since it's a placeholder, the price isn't final yet. Similarly, we have a new listing on a US retailer called NEBuMAX, which has listed the processor at $511.44. This suggests a price tag of around $500, which is going to be roughly $20 higher than the launch price of Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
However, as I said before, the real price will be announced by AMD at CES 2026, when the company will unveil both the new X3D chips. Still, going by these listings, we should expect minimal price increase, but it would be great if AMD launches it at $479, i.e., the same price as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This is because it's a refreshed chip and doesn't bring much change to the table except for the boost clock.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D retains the base clock of 4.7 GHz, but offers a 400 MHz higher boost clock of 5.6 GHz. This is a substantial increase to offer noticeable performance benefits in apps and games, but won't deliver drastic changes, particularly when the underlying architecture and core/thread configuration are the same. The processor will boast 96 MB of L3 cache, two RDNA 2 compute units for its iGPU, and the same memory controller supporting DDR5-5600 memory speed.
