The most powerful GeForce RTX 5090 ever produced will cost over $5000, and users have to particitipate into lottery to win the chance to "purchase" the card.
MSI Announces One-Day Lottery Event for GeForce RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z, The Enthusiast-Grade RTX 5090 Rated At Up To 2500W
Since the unveiling of the card at CES, we have been wondering how much it costs. The answer is out, and as expected, it costs more than what we expected. The MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z is probably the most insane RTX 5090 ever produced, and with a max TDP limit of 2500W, this thing is easily surpassing the Galax's Hall of Fame OC Lab XOC edition. It's also the first-ever RTX 5090 GPU that is officially unlocked to pull up to 1000W, surpassing the 800W limit of the ASUS ROG Matrix edition.
That said, the GPU is a limited edition, and there will be a total of 1,300 editions for worldwide shipping. Since the GPU is rare and is largely designed for overclocking enthusiasts, getting hands on it will be extremely difficult for most. MSI did announce a giveaway a few weeks away, but this time it has started a lottery event so that users who win the lottery can have the chance to purchase the GPU.
As per the lottery rules, there will be only 10 winners, and this is specific to Taiwan. Anyone who wins the lottery will pay NT$165,000 to get the GPU, which comes out at around US$5220, which is one of the most expensive RTX 5090s we have seen to date. The card is surely the most expensive if we exclude ASUS cards like the Dhahab edition, but it's not expensive due to gold and glitter; it's made to "perform".
The lottery event will be held for 24 hours, starting on February 9, 10:00 AM to February 10, 10:00 AM. The winners will be announced the next day and will be given the official store purchase link via SMS and email on February 12, 2026. Meanwhile, those who are looking for regular GeForce RTX 5090 editions are also paying a hefty price these days, as the card has climbed to nearly $4000-$5000, and they certainly don't bring a premium design and a display like the Lightning Z.
