The company is reportedly using cut-down GB205 GPU dies for some of its new RTX 5060 GPUs.

MSI Quietly Launches Several New GeForce RTX 5060 GPUs With the GB205 Die Under the "V1" Family

MSI isn't done with its RTX 50 series and is now adding new NVIDIA GPUs to its arsenal. One would think that newer GPUs may indicate the RTX 50 Super arrival, but as of now, NVIDIA has put a hold on the sales of the upcoming refreshed series due to memory prices. Therefore, we are left with the existing RTX 50 SKUs, where many vendors continue releasing newer variants with improved design.

That said, we are now seeing MSI expanding its arsenal with newer variants in the GeForce RTX 50 series, as spotted by @unikoshardware. There have been four new GeForce RTX 5060 cards on the official website, all of them included under the new "V1" category. This V1 naming convention indicates a crucial difference between the new RTX 5060 GPUs and the existing ones.

As identified by @unikoshardware, these RTX 5060 cards utilize the GB205 GPU die, which is responsible for powering the GeForce RTX 5070. However, MSI has utilized the cut-down GB205 to ensure it can match the specs of the regular RTX 5060 reference edition, which uses the GB206 GPU.

These four GPUs are released under the VENTUS and GAMING series, including non-OC and OC models. Such GPUs already exist in MSI's arsenal, but the "V1" designation indicates the difference between the two. All four cards have one thing in common, which proves that they indeed utilize the GB205 die. It's the rectangular GPU core mounting, which is usually seen on the GB205-based cards, such as the RTX 5070.

Regular RTX 5060's use a square GPU mounting, which is obvious from the already existing cards in MSI's catalog. Apart from that, there doesn't seem to be any difference between the MSI RTX 5060 non-V1 and V1 cards. MSI hasn't disclosed the pricing and availability of new models yet.
