MSI Claw Handheld Receives Big Boost In Gaming Performance With New BIOS & Intel GPU Drivers, Up To 44% Gain 1

MSI's Claw handheld has seen some big performance uplifts with the latest BIOS updates accompanied by the latest Intel GPU driver.

MSI Claw Handheld Gets Better As BIOS Updates & New Intel GPU Drivers Help Boost Gaming Performance By 150%

The MSI Claw handheld was launched at a very high price and saw some heated competition from the likes of ASUS's ROG Ally and Steam Deck OLED. The competition offered better value and game performance but MSI is trying to fix some of the flaws associated with its gaming console through new BIOS updates and price cuts. Intel is also helping the Claw handheld by releasing new graphics driver updates which bring increased performance to games running on its Core Ultra CPUs & Arc iGPUs.

The latest update BIOS comes in the form of "BIOS Ver. E1T41IMS.106" which improves gaming performance across various titles and should also address a few bug fixes. It should also be noted that MSI Claw users should no longer require a USB Drive or HUB/Docking adapter connected to update the BIOS. The process has been made simpler and can be done without any USB device as explained in the following guide:

Now coming to the performance side of things, the new BIOS and the latest Intel GPU driver enable the MSI Claw handheld to achieve up to a 150% gain in games.

Several titles have been tested by the MSI team including Dead Space, F1 23, Helldivers 2, Diablo 4, Hogwarts Legacy, and Forza Horizon 5.

  • GTA V +40%
  • Hunt: Showdown +35%
  • MIR +28%
  • Hogwarts Legacy +27.6%

You can download the latest BIOS at this link. Once again, the MSI Claw handheld is one of the only Intel Core Ultra-powered gaming devices on the market right now. Considering that the Core Ultra lineup is relatively new for the handheld segment, it will take some time for manufacturers to fine-tune its performance on such platforms. It looks like that MSI is headed in the right direction and future BIOS/Driver updates can make the Claw a competitive product against the AMD Ryzen APU offerings.
