MSI will be offering a new motherboard BIOS for the upcoming Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU to boost its P-Core clocks to a staggering 6.4 GHz.

Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU Can Hit An Additional 200 MHz Clock Speed of Up To 6.4 GHz On Its P-Cores Thanks To MSI's Latest Motherboard BIOS

Last year, MSI introduced a new 1-click boost option for its Z790 MAX series motherboards, offering up to 6.3 GHz clocks on the Intel 14th Gen CPUs. Now, MSI is working on fine-tuning the same BIOS option to support the upcoming Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU which has a boost frequency of 6.2 GHz out of the box.

With this new BIOS, the Intel Core i9-14900KS can hit clock speeds of 6.4 GHz and above on the P-Cores, taking desktop frequencies to the next level. The 6.2 GHz frequency is already the fastest on the mainstream desktop platform so getting 6.4 GHz+ clocks is truly mind-blowing. To sustain the higher clock speeds, enthusiasts will have to rely on the best cooling solutions and ensure enough power is given to the CPU since this beast can sip in over 400 Watts at stock. It makes sense to go the custom-loop route when using such tuning options.

The new P-Core Beyond 6 GHz+ option can be enabled through the BIOS and you can see that the setting gives you several pre-configured modes to select from with the highest one enabling a 6.4 GHz 1-Core and 5.9 GHz all-core boost. There's also one that sets the all-core boost to 5.8 GHz to satisfy those who don't want to keep things tame when running multi-threaded workloads. Once again, this option will be available on the MSI Z790 MAX series motherboards after the Intel Core i9-14900KS launches tomorrow.

The MAX lineup includes the high-end MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX, Z790 ACE MAX alongside the more mainstream offerings such as the MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI, MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WIFI, MPG Z790 Carbon MAX WIFI and the PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI. We tested the ACE and Tomahawk MAX motherboards a while back which you can read more about here.
