Johnny Cage being listed as a Kameo fighter is definitely interesting. In yesterday's announcement, the character was counted among the classic characters coming back to Mortal Kombat 1, but it was not confirmed if he is coming back as a fully playable character or as a Kameo fighter. NetherRealm Studios hasn't confirmed if main characters can also be Kameo fighters, so as of now, the situation isn't particularly clear.

As mentioned above, Mortal Kombat 1 was announced yesterday for PC and consoles. The next entry in the series, which will reboot the series' universe, will come with an immersive cinematic narrative, a big cast of characters, and new gameplay mechanics, such as the Kameo fighters, which will work as assist characters to provide new gameplay possibilities. Before the game launches, players will also be able to try it out thanks to a beta which will be held this August.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch on September 19th.
