The Soulslike game Lords of the Fallen sold over one million units in its first ten days on the market. Publisher CI Games just shared the news via press release.

Marek Tyminski, CEO of CI Games, stated:

Lords of the Fallen is the most important and ambitious game we’ve developed in our 20-year history and the first in our new planned AAA pipeline of games in the years ahead. To see this fresh and innovative take on the action RPG achieve one million sales in just 10 days has been humbling for everybody at HEXWORKS and CI Games.

Saul Gascon, Head of Studio at HEXWORKS, added:

Thank you to all the Lampbearers out there who have embarked on their journeys across Mournstead, fearlessly traversing the lands of the living and the dead. We’re incredibly grateful to the passionate Lords of the Fallen community for their invaluable feedback and ongoing support. It's their unwavering dedication that has made this success possible, and we couldn't be prouder to share it with them.

Despite the solid sales, the game didn't have the warmest reception. For instance, in Wccftech's review, Francesco De Meo decried its poor balance:

The balancing approach of Lords of the Fallen is baffling. At first, I thought the game was balanced around co-op, which would make sense, given how easy it is to summon allies by interacting with the Vestige checkpoints. So, I tried summoning some allies, and the situation changed little. We were still swarmed by enemies, with the complication of having to revive my allies often, and not due to their lack of skill. Add in the fact that while in co-op, you could get invaded by another player, and you have yet another recipe for frustration. I understand wanting to make a game challenging, but going for the unfair route really doesn't work, in my opinion. Lords of the Fallen made me feel like I was playing Dark Souls 2 again, one of the soulslike I despise the most.

Luckily, HEXWORKS has been working at a breakneck pace on new patches delivered on a daily basis. Today's update re-enabled crossplay between consoles, while the patch planned to launch this Thursday will add PC to the mix. Critically, enemy density (one of the main criticisms levied in our Lords of the Fallen review) will be addressed with the upcoming patch.
