Apple has plans to upgrade the MacBook Pro models with its highly anticipated M5 chips later this year, but aside from this, the company also has M6 chips in the works as well. The latest information shows a list of alleged identifiers belonging to the future Mac lineup, possibly including the recently reported A18 Pro-powered MacBook Pro. All of the speculated Macs will launch at some point this year or next, which means that the mystery device also gets a rumored release time frame.
The leaked identifiers tease exciting Mac upgrades, with a mysterious A18 Pro MacBook and revamped Mac Pro
The list, shared by AppleInsider, not only includes the upcoming MacBook Pro models but also indicates that the company is working to upgrade its entire Mac lineup, including the iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and even the Mac Pro. The M5 branded MacBook Pro models are slated to be released later this year, possibly alongside the M5 iPad Pro refresh. We expect the company to launch the 14-inch and 16-inch variants of the M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max MacBook Pro models in either October or November, a time frame reflecting Apple's typical release cycle for its laptops. The report also states that the company could release the M5 Mac mini and iMac alongside the new MacBook Pro models.
The M5 MacBook Air and Mac Studio are expected to see daylight next year, possibly in the first half, but the desktop-class Mac Pro is still in the developmental phase, which means that it could launch a bit later than the rest of the machines. There is a chance that the Mac Pro will be upgraded in 2027 and not 2026, but since the final word rests with Apple, we would advise readers to take the news with a pinch of salt.
This year, Apple's MacBook Pro models are expected to launch with the same design as the M4 versions, which means that the only thing that you should be looking forward to is the performance and efficiency gains derived from the M5 chip. However, next year's M6 MacBook Pro models are slated to house OLED panels, which are expected to be a major step up from the miniLED displays on the current models. The OLED MacBook Pro models could also bring design changes to the lineup, possibly slimmer bezels and a thinner overall profile. You can check the list below for more details on the devices and their respective identifiers.

The list also mentions the J700 identifier that belongs to no other Mac, and it could be our first clue that the company has plans to launch a new, cheaper version of the MacBook, which will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, the same chip that powers the iPhone 16 Pro models. However, we are not certain if the identifier belongs to the same product. We will be keeping a close eye on the latest news and supply chain sources for further information on the subject.
