Industry legend Hideo Kojima provided a New Year update via Twitter on the various projects he's brewing, starting with Death Stranding 2. According to the creator of Metal Gear, the sequel to the 2019 'strand game' needs some ADR done. ADR stands for automated dialogue replacement, a film-making post-production process where some lines are re-recorded to replace those from the original production deemed unsuitable for various reasons, such as improving audio quality or even making changes to the dialogue. Moreover, Kojima said the Japanese voiceover recording for Death Stranding 2 will begin in 2024.

At the same time, his studio will continue working on OD, the Xbox-exclusive cloud game recently unveiled at The Game Awards. Kojima also has many other projects to work on, though, such as the Death Stranding movie adaptation (which will be made by A24 in collaboration with Hammerstone Productions), a new writing series, and special programs like 'HideTube' and 'HideRadio'.

This year will be another year of simultaneous production of "Death Stranding 2" and "OD". Death Stranding 2 still has some ADR left, and we will start recording Japanese voiceovers. I want to concentrate on creating games, so I would like to limit my business trips, but I can't do nothing because I have to shoot for OD, collaborate with Avengers, make DS into a movie, and work on other video projects. In addition to production, I am also planning to add another writing series, not only for anan but also for other projects. We are also planning to run a special program on "HideTube" which we have been neglecting, as a trial. We may also revive "Hide Radio" in the future. So, it is going to be a tough year, but I hope to enjoy this Year of the Dragon.

It looks like Kojima, now 60 years old, has an extremely busy year ahead of him. Still, fans will probably have to wait until 2025 to play Death Stranding 2, according to a rumor from late November.
