Nintendo’s NES Classic led monthly unit sales in the US for the month of June, according to industry-tracking firm, The NPD Group.

While all current generation consoles experiences sales growth in June, Nintendo’s miniature replica of the Nintendo Entertainment System managed to outsell both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in terms of unit sales. Sony’s PS4 was the best-selling console in the US in terms of dollar sales, and Microsoft’s Xbox One hardware dollar sales nearly doubled compared to last year.

“This is the first time a Nintendo Entertainment System console has led in monthly unit sales since NPD tracking began in 1995,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said.

“Xbox One hardware dollar sales nearly doubled in June 2018 when compared to a year ago, while Switch sales jumped over 50 percent,” the analyst said. “PlayStation 4 hardware dollar sales were also higher. Dollar sales of all other hardware grew more than 23 times in the month when compared to a year ago, driven by sales of plug-and-play devices like the NES Classic and the Super Nintendo Classic.”

Year-to-date, the PlayStation 4 remains the best-selling console.
