iPhone SE 4 to feature same battery as iPhone 14

Apple is preparing to redesign the iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch in 2025 at the earliest. The device is rumored to feature a design similar to the iPhone 14 with flatter edges and a bigger screen than the iPhone SE 3. It is now being reported that the iPhone SE 4 will feature the same battery as the base model of the iPhone 14. The fourth iteration of the budget iPhone was expected to feature a design similar to the iPhone 14, and the latest information corroborated earlier reports.

iPhone SE 4 will feature the same battery as the iPhone 14, but it will house a USB-C port and the new Action Button

The iPhone SE 4 will be Apple's lower-cost iPhone with a modern design and feature set. The device was reported to feature a more prominent 6.1-inch display, similar to the iPhone 14, an upgrade from the iPhone SE 3's 4.7-inch display. It was also rumored that the handset would ditch Touch ID in favor of Face ID. While all the latest iPhone 15 models have switched to the Dynamic Island, the iPhone SE 4 would stick to the smaller notch design on the front. According to information received by MacRumors, the iPhone SE 4 will feature the same battery as the iPhone 14.

The publication notes that the iPhone SE 4, with an identifier D59, will use the iPhone 14's battery. Early prototypes of the device are discovered to house batteries with the A2863 model number, which Apple has used in its iPhone 14 model. The internal design changes also reflect the same changes. Compared to the iPhone SE 3, the iPhone SE 4 will significantly jump in battery capacity from 2018 mAh to 3279 mAh. This is an increase of 1250 mAh, and combined with the latest chipset, the SE 3 could deliver an all-day battery life.

The iPhone 14 suffered from poor sales as it featured the same design as the iPhone 13. Apple is keen to use older hardware to offer the iPhone SE 4 as a budget handset. The iPhone SE lineup does not offer Apple's latest design but is known to get the latest processors. With the SE 4, we suspect the device will boast a 3nm chipset for enhanced CPU and GPU performance. Based on its release time frame, the device could feature an A17 Pro or A18 Pro chip.

While the general design language of the iPhone SE 4 will be identical to the iPhone 14, it will feature a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Furthermore, the company will also offer the Action Button on the device for maximum utility. As mentioned, the iPhone SE 4 will feature Face ID, which means the iPhone SE 3 is the last device to house Apple's Touch ID sensor in the Home button. Since the iPhone SE lineup has always been cheaper than the other models, it remains to be seen if Apple will increase the handset's price.
