The iPhone SE 4 will be Apple's budget king against Android smartphones, considering how the device is reported to feature flagship internals. Moreover, the internals are only half the story for the device, as it will pave the way for something much more significant - Apple Intelligence. Apple has set certain hardware limitations for its devices to bolster Apple Intelligence, and the sub-$500 iPhone SE 4 will get the upgrade. While the feature set appears to be solid for the affordable iPhone, a new rumor claims that the SE 4 will also feature Dynamic Island instead of a notch, making it look more like the iPhone 16.

iPhone SE 4 to feature a Dynamic Island instead of a smaller notch, possibly to keep up with Apple's modern design language

For more than a year, we have constantly reported that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a smaller notch on top, similar to the iPhone 14. However, if the latest leak from Evan Blass has any heft to it, the iPhone SE 4 will look identical to the iPhone 15 with a Dynamic Island on top of the display. Apple introduced the Dynamic Island with the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro models, a cutout that is designed to offer a range of functionalities through software.

The leaker also recently shared details on the upcoming iPad Air and that it will be powered by the company's M3 chip instead of the M4. The source code also mentioned the name of the company's upcoming budget iPhone, referring to it as the "iPhone SE 4." It was recently coined by another leaker on X that the company could rebrand the affordable iPhone and use the '16E' moniker instead of 'SE 4'. Evan Blass' latest information does not line up with this, as the source code uses the name 'iPhone SE 4'.

In a follow-up post on X, Blass shared an image of the iPhone SE 4, and if you look closely, the device features a Dynamic Island on the front instead of a notch. If the device does launch with a Dynamic Island on the front, we can safely presume that it will look more like the iPhone 16 instead of the iPhone 14, and it will be a big jump for the budget variant. The only remaining difference would be an additional camera sensor and possibly a slightly older display panel.

Other than this, the iPhone SE 4 is also expected to launch with an A17 Pro or the 18 Bionic chip. We believe that the company will use the A18 chip instead of the A17 Pro, as it will be more future-proof, considering how the company takes three years to upgrade the budget model. The device is also speculated to feature 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence and the company's custom 5G modem, which is slated to offer subpar performance compared to Qualcomm's version. Needless to say, we will keep you posted with the latest details, so stay tuned.
