There have been a few hiccups with Apple’s AI features rollout this year, and it could prove deleterious for the company’s iPhone 17 sales. Fortunately, we could witness significant growth the next year with the iPhone 18 unveiling because a report states that not only will the firm have released advanced generative AI features by then, but the 2026 lineup is expected to be accompanied by Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
There was already a surge of customers upgrading to the latest iPhones because of the fear of Trump’s tariffs, which will slow iPhone 17 adoption
A JP Morgan investors’ note spotted by AppleInsider mentions a less-than-stellar future for the iPhone 17 family, with multiple reasons behind the technology giant’s upcoming lineup not being as successful as it should be. Customers who previously intended to pick up an iPhone 17 model as their daily driver will probably avoid this upgrade because the fear of Trump’s tariffs already forced buyers into impulsively purchasing an iPhone 16. Production forecasts for the iPhone 17 are already 9 percent lower than the iPhone 16, but the future holds better prospects for Apple.
For instance, the iPhone 18 series is expected to witness a series of upgrades that should help drive that sales momentum because Apple would have finally resolved the mess it has put itself in and finally launch those advanced AI features to put it on equal footing with competitors. Additionally, the investors’ note mentions that alongside the iPhone 18 series, Apple is slated to launch its first foldable iPhone, whose resolution, display, design, and other details were recently mentioned by a notable tipster, even though it was a prototype.
Additionally, the iPhone 18 range is said to ship with a boatload of internal upgrades, including Apple’s 2nm A20 chipset, which is rumored to be 15 percent faster than the A19 at the same power draw, along with six-channel memory for increased bandwidth. Customers might also appreciate the slightly improved design, with display analyst Ross Young commenting that the iPhone 18 series will ship with a smaller pill-shaped cutout.
Since it will take Apple more than a year to launch the newer models, we should not be surprised that JP Morgan analysts did not provide their fresh shipments forecast, but we should have a clearer picture on what is happening next year.
