iPhone 18 Pro isn't getting in-screen Face ID, but these three upgrades should get you really excited

The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max was previously rumored to shrink by 35 percent because Apple was said to incorporate in-display Face ID into its upcoming flagships. Unfortunately, somewhere during the testing phase, the company pulled the plug on this implementation for undisclosed reasons, meaning that the Dynamic Island is expected to remain the same size. However, one tipster has mentioned three incredible upgrades that will probably make you forget about this design change, or lack thereof, almost instantly.

The 2nm A20 Pro, wider aperture, and 5,000mAh battery upgrades are expected to arrive to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, claims a tipster

An update from Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station mentions both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will use the same chassis as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. In short, the camera plateau, two-tone color pattern, and an unchanged Dynamic Island are expected to be retained for this year’s launch, which may disappoint some potential buyers, but there’s a silver lining in this.

The rumor claims that the iPhone 18 series for 2026 will have plenty of key selling points that will drive sales through the roof, starting with the A20 Pro, which is expected to be Apple’s first chipset mass produced on TSMC’s 2nm architecture. Additionally, the tipster also mentions a wider aperture, but what he forgot to mention is that both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are rumored to feature variable aperture technology, bringing more versatility to the primary cameras.

Last, but certainly not least, we have the battery capacity. Apple has been rumored to make the iPhone 18 Pro Max thicker and heavier than its immediate predecessor, which only means that we should look forward to a bigger battery. Just last month, Digital Chat Station provided the cell sizes for both the eSIM and non-eSIM versions of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are given below:

Looking at these upgrades, we are confident that those looking forward to a significantly smaller Dynamic Island will quickly forget about it after hearing what they are getting in return. We wouldn’t be surprised if the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max achieve insane sales traction this year.
