Apple was reported to finally introduce a design change to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max when both flagships launched later this year, with the possibility that the two premium models would ship with a two-tone finish, along with a prominent bar at the back. Unfortunately, one report refutes those previous claims entirely, stating that the company has no intentions of incorporating these changes, meaning that there could be no visible differences between the upcoming ‘Pro’ lineup and the current-generation one.

New report immediately downplays the somewhat exciting changes that were allegedly arriving to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, saying it is ‘not an accurate representation of what’s to come’

Details from Mark Gurman’s ‘Power On’ newsletter were spotted by 9to5Mac, and those who were finally ecstatic about seeing a fresh iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max exterior will be left utterly disappointed because no such design shifts are expected, at least based on what the Bloomberg correspondent has been informed about. This suggests that whatever information we have stumbled across talking about a two-tone finish and a camera bar could not make the final cut.

“Some images online even show a two-tone design, with a dark-black camera block on top of a silver iPhone back. Those are, like many renders on the internet, not an accurate representation of what’s to come.

The iPhone 17 Pro won’t have a two-toned back, I’m told. The camera area will be the same color as the rest of the device. That speaks to the more gradual design changes that Apple is making: The iPhone 17 Pro isn’t a major departure from current models.”

It is possible that Apple was experimenting with the aforementioned changes with a few prototypes and decided not to place the newer look of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max into mass production because of either quality control issues or the fact that this appearance did not fit the company’s design philosophy. It is important to note that Gurman has been incorrect in the past, but he continues to maintain a solid track record. Even with his near-pristine history, readers must treat this information with a pinch of salt, and we will return with more updates.
