Apple always strives to bring incredible video recording capabilities to its iPhones, which is why the company’s handsets are the golden standard for capturing footage. Sure, the competition has successfully bridged the gap, but it appears that when the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max launch later this year, the company’s rivals will be playing ‘catch up’ again. According to the latest report, both flagships will arrive with upgrades and features that will make them more appealing to the vlogging community and creators who want to get everything done on their devices.
No mention of what changes will arrive to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, but a combination of hardware and software should be on the cards
In the latest edition of Mark Gurman’s ‘Power On’ newsletter, 9to5Mac reports that new features and upgrades are arriving to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to make the flagships a salivating option for creators. Gurman also appears to believe that Apple will announce the new models in September, though historically, the Cupertino giant has always been unwavering when it comes to announcing new devices in a specific month.
“One of the goals for 2025’s iPhone line is to get the vlogging community and other video creators to move away from standalone cameras and use the iPhone for even more of their work. Look for Apple to more heavily than ever tout these video recording capabilities when the new iPhones debut in September.”
While a new target market will be tapped by Apple with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max launch, the newsletter did not specifically point out which features we should look forward to. With the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, we got the tetraprism telephoto lens, so it is safe to assume that this upgrade will arrive to the newer models. Additionally, we could witness better software-based stabilization from all three rear cameras to help provide steady footage for creators, not to mention the placement of more microphones to deliver clearer audio.
Current-generation iPhones already support the option to offload footage to portable solid-state drives, and while that feature is expected to be maintained on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, users have to transfer data to their computers to begin the editing process. While it is a long shot, Apple could incorporate professional tools within the camera app so that vloggers and creators can upload their content without opening their other machines.
Of course, it is important to note that without knowing the full picture, speculation will only get us so far, so remember to treat this information with a pinch of salt, and we will be back with more updates.
