The iPhone 16 is on the verge of being announced, and we are hearing numerous details about what the lineup could look like. Based on various reports, it has been speculated that the design of the 'Pro' models will be more or less similar to the current variants. On the other hand, Apple has big plans for the iPhone 17 lineup, as it plans to launch a new 'Slim' variant with radical design changes. A leaker has now shared details on the iPhone 17 lineup, including the internal specifications, display upgrades, and much more.
iPhone 17 Slim is rumored to be Apple's highest-end handset with an A19 Pro chip, but the camera sensors suggest otherwise
Early reports suggested that Apple will forgo the iPhone 17 Plus model in favor of a new "Slim" model that will sit above the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and based on the information, it will be marketed as the highest-end model. If the news has any heft to it, the iPhone 16 Plus could be the last of its kind, launching later this year. Ice Universe shared the information on Weibo, stating that next year's iPhone lineup will be quite different than it is right now. You can check the details we know so far below:
- iPhone 17: 6.27-inch LTPO display with a $799 price
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.27-inch LTPO display with a $1,099 price
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.86-inch LTPO display with a $1,199 price
- iPhone 17 "Slim": 6.65-inch LTPO display with a $1,299 price
All four models of the iPhone 17 are slated to come with an LTPO display, which means that ProMotion could finally make its way to the standard model of the iPhone. This will allow the iPhone 17 to boast a 120Hz refresh rate for the first time and it may be evident in its price. The ProMotion feature has been featured in the 'Pro' models for a while and it is about time the company trickles it down to the low-cost versions of the device.
The iPhone 17 Pro models will also come with their fair share of upgrades, featuring up to 12GB of RAM and a triple-lens camera setup, which is the same as before but with upgraded sensors. Additionally, the devices are speculated to come with upgraded internals, including the A19 Pro based on TSMC's 2nm process for enhanced computational and graphical performance.
As for the iPhone 17 Slim, the device is also rumored to come with an A19 Pro chip, the same as the 'Pro' models, but the company could change the number of cores in the chip to mark it as the highest-end model of the series. However, it is speculated that the "Slim" will feature a dual-camera design with an aluminum chassis and 8GB of RAM.
It is unclear why the company would position the iPhone 17 Slim as the highest-end model but keep the internals and the camera hardware the same as the non-Pro models. Henceforth, we would advise readers to take the news with a grain of salt. The news related to the Slim model is still young, and it could develop further as its launch nears.
