It was recently reported that Apple is planning to rename its entire line of software updates as early as next month at its WWDC 2025 event. This means that instead of showcasing iOS 19, it will jump directly to iOS 26, as part of its plans to adopt a year-based naming scheme. However, this will have no relation to the changes that are planned to arrive with the update, including a battery charge time feature that Android users have enjoyed for a long time.

iOS 26 will feature a battery charge time estimate feature, letting users know how much they have to wait

iOS 26 will be unveiled in a few weeks, and it will potentially be the biggest update the company has released for the iPhone. Apple wants to give all of its platforms a complete makeover, which stretches down to their names as well, as per recent reports. While the visual overhaul is overdue, considering the company only implemented incremental changes in the past upgrades, the upcoming version will define the company's plans for the future.

As mentioned, Apple plans to introduce a new battery feature that is not at all a game-changer, but its mere presence makes a difference for users. As per past reports, iOS 26 will include a battery charging time estimate, giving users an idea of when they should be back to get their iPhones off the table. This specific feature has been present on Google Pixel phones for a long time, giving users an indication of how much they have to wait.

In a report published earlier this month, Mark Gurman states:

There… will be a lock-screen indicator showing how long it will take to charge up [your iPhone].

Currently, on the iPhone, there is no method available that will tell you how much time it would take for your device to reach one hundred percent battery capacity. Users end up checking their phones often to see if it has been charged or not. Meanwhile, on the Pixel handsets, you can glance at the battery charge time estimate, and you know when you should be back.

It is a pretty small addition but a very important one, and features like this make the operating system more user-friendly. The company also has plans to introduce circular app icons with iOS 26, which could make the platform look more like Android. We will update you with more nifty features like these, so do stick around.
