iOS 19 to introduce WiFi syncing across entire devices, for public networks

iOS 19 is shaping up to be a bigger update than originally anticipated, with a plethora of new features and possibly circular app icons, which users have demanded for a while. In a series of reports and rumors, we have reported that the company will take design cues from visionOS and integrate a range of elements into iOS 19, including translucent, glass-like effects. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shares in his latest report that Apple is readying a nifty little change in iOS 19, which will allow all public WiFi networks to be synced across the entire Apple ecosystem.

iOS 19 will make it easier for users to connect to public WiFi networks across the entire suite of devices under the Apple ecosystem

While Apple is planning some quality features for iOS 19, some of them will be oriented toward user-friendliness. Gurman notes in his latest Power On newsletter that the ability to sync passwords for public WiFi networks across all of your devices that come under the Apple ecosystem is a small but nifty feature. The feature portrays Apple's intentions of not only offering visual enhancements but also its focus on upgrading the existing line of features.

What does this mean? Well, when you go to a new hotel, office building or gym, you’re often asked to fill out a web form on all your devices before you can access the internet. This new feature will let you enter that information on one device and have it synched to your other products. That should make things a bit more convenient next time you need to access a new Wi-Fi network.

Even though the feature sounds small, it will make it easier for users to use any of their devices without having to reconnect again. Users can simply put down their iPhone connected to their gym or hotel, pick up their iPad, and resume surfing the internet. Altogether, it strengthens the Apple ecosystem, and the smoothness of the operation is what makes iOS 19 a major update.

The company is also working on a handful of additional features, which it will discuss at the WWDC event next month. We also received word that Apple Intelligence will feature various upgrades. However, some notable features, including Personalized Siri, will not be available to users until next year, potentially with iOS 19.4. Apple will release iOS 19 beta to developers next month, soon after the event, which will help us understand the update even further. Let us know what your thoughts are on the upcoming WiFi feature in iOS 19.
