Huawei P30 Pro Gets Night Mode for Front Camera, August Patch and More
The prospect of losing its Android license didn't slow down Huawei's OTA updates in the slightest, and the Chinese telecommunications behemoth isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The company just unveiled it's Android Q-based EMUI 10 earlier this week along with a list of devices that will receive the update. For now, most Huawei and Honor devices are still on EMUI 9.1 and today, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are receiving some new features via an OTA update.
The update comes in the form of build version 220.127.116.11 for the P30 Pro and is rolling out to Chinese users. A global rollout is expected to follow in the coming weeks, as has been the case with most previous updates. The most notable feature of the update is the addition of Night Mode to the secondary camera. Users can now take selfies in poor lighting conditions and get significantly better-looking photos. Although it isn't as potent as the primary camera's Night Mode, it still gets the job done.
Some of the other changes that the update brings to the P30 Pro include the August 2019 security patch, new video editing features for the Gallery app, optimizations for the in-display fingerprint reader, and support for the Huawei X Gentle Monster, the company's first-ever 'smart' glasses that purportedly 'enhance gaming experiences.' The glasses are IP67 dust and water-resistant, and they can charge wirelessly via the case that holds the glasses, which has a 2,200mAh battery, or via the USB-C port.
Head over to Settings> System> Software update> Check for updates to see if you're eligible to receive it. We can expect the build to weigh in at around ~1GB solely based on Huawei's history of rolling out unreasonably large updates.
