HTC has just announced via their Facebook page that the Desire HD and Incredible S will get their doses of Gingerbread on May 16th. Most Desire HD users are already enjoying Android 2.3 on custom ROMS thanks to the phone's unlocked bootloader. But for owners of Incredible S, rooting has not been an easy task, in fact it hasn't happened yet. So experiencing Gingerbread for them would certainly be a welcome change. This is what their Facebook page says:
Hey guys, firstly we want to thank you all for being so patient about the Gingerbread update. We’ve been pushing this really hard and are pleased to announce that we are aiming to have the HTC Gingerbread update for unlocked HTC Desire HD and HTC Incredible S models available on 16th May 2011. For those waiting for their specific operator update, rest assured that we’re working very closely with each operator to get this just right and will update you as soon as we possibly can. Once again, we really appreciate your support and patience on this.
After this the original Desire and Desire Z will get their share of Gingerbread in June/July. Good stuff from HTC to keep their phones up to date. Now if only other OEMs would follow suit.
