Survival in Saros depends not only on your skills, but also on Arjun’s high-tech suit. Understanding the balance between the three Growth Attributes of the suit and how to improve them is often the difference between a successful Cycle and a quick trip back to the Passage.
Table of contents
The Three Growth Attributes
- Resilience: Determines maximum Armor Integrity. The higher this stat, the more health Arjun has to survive the game's intense combat encounters.
- Command: Determines the maximum amount of Power your armor can store. High Command allows you to use Power Weapons more frequently and maintain your Shield for longer durations before needing a recharge.
- Drive: Determines the rate at which collected Lucenite is converted into Proficiency levels. It also increases the amount of Lucenite you retain and bring back to the Passage after each Cycle.
None of the Growth Attributes enhances Arjun's attack power or speed. However, Traversal Boost is there to make traversal faster and more enjoyable.
How to Improve Stats
Growth Attributes in Saros are not static and can be enhanced both permanently and temporarily.
Permanent Upgrades
Permanent stat increases are handled via the Armor Matrix skill tree, which is accessible through the Primary Unit in your base. Progressing through some of these nodes will provide baseline buffs that persist across every run.
Temporary Upgrades
You can further enhance these attributes during a specific Cycle by:
- Increasing Proficiency: Once you defeat the first boss, Prophet, and unlock the corresponding Armor Matrix node, gaining Proficiency will boost your stats for that run.
- Collecting Artifacts: Found inside Containers, these provide immediate stat improvements.
- Attribute Enhancers: These can be picked up from defeated enemies or found in Containers, provided you have unlocked the related ability in the Armor Matrix first.
Resilience, Command, and Drive: Which Should You Upgrade First?
While you will eventually permanently upgrade all attributes evenly, you must be careful with temporary upgrades. As you explore Carcosa and face the dangers of the Eclipse, you will find Artifacts that enhance one attribute while reducing another.
Ultimately, you should:
- Avoid anything that reduces Resilience or Command, as both have a massive impact on your immediate survival.
- Drive, on the other hand, is the most expendable stat. In the advanced stages of every biome, the sheer volume of enemies ensures you will collect enough Lucenite to compensate for any loss in Proficiency gain.
