How to Record Your Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations as a Video
Microsoft PowerPoint is widely used around the world by students and professionals in different fields. The better you are at making presentations, the better the chance of you getting the point across. In my experience as a student and as a professional, I have realized that the better your presentation-making skills are, the better the chances of success. There are tons of things to learn to improve your presentation-making skills, and in this tutorial, I will address one. I will show you how to record your Microsoft PowerPoint presentations as a video.
Record Your Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations
So, why would you need to record your presentations? You may need to record your presentation as a video for your students, you may need to make a video presentation for your colleagues, you may need it to train employees, and the list goes on. I will show you two ways to record the presentations in PowerPoint.
[I am using Microsoft Office365, so the positions of the options may vary for you depending on the PowerPoint version]
Screen Recording in PowerPoint
Step-1: Launch the PowerPoint app.
Step-2: Click on the Insert option in the ribbon at the top of the window.
Step-3: In the Media section, click on Screen Recording.
Step-4: A dialogue box will appear at the top of the screen with two options (Audio and Record Pointer) already enabled. If you don’t want to record audio or if you don’t want to record your pointer, then click on the options to disable them.
Step-5: Click on the Select Area option and drag the cursor that appears to select the area that you wish to record. A dotted line will appear around the area that you select. The area surrounded by the dotted line will be included in the recording.
Step-6: After you have selected the area, click on the Record button.
Step-7: When you are done with the presentation, use the keys Win + Shift + Q to stop the recording.
Step-8: The recording will appear in your presentation in a new slide. Right-click on it and click on Save Media As and select where you want to save the recording.
Slide Show Recording
The Screen Recording feature is helpful when you want to record different things on your PC. The slide show recording feature will only record the presentation.
Step-1: Open the PowerPoint app.
Step-2: Click on the Slide Show option in the ribbon.
Step-3: In the Set Up section, click on Record Slide Show.
Step-4: You will get the option to start recording from the beginning of the presentation of whatever slide you are on. Pick whichever option applies to you.
Step-5: Another window will open. Click on the Record button to start recording.
Step-6: If you wish to narrate during the presentation, keep the Microphone option On. You can also wish to keep your Camera On and record yourself too. If you want to turn these features Off, click on the options at the bottom of the window.
Step-7: When you wish to stop the recording, click on the Stop button. Your media will appear on your slide. Right-click on it and select Save Media as and choose the location where you wish to save the file.
