Diablo IV – Should You Salvage or Sell Your Items?

Diablo IV

Diablo IV, like every other entry in the series, features a robust loot system that will reward you with tons of different gear for completing various activities, defeating enemies, and just exploring Sanctuary thoroughly.

As such, it won't take long for your inventory to fill up, making you unable to collect more gear. Instead of simply dropping gear to make room for more, you could stash your items, salvage, or sell them.

Should You Salvage or Sell Your Items in Diablo IV?

Gear in Diablo IV comes with different rarity tiers, ranging from common to Legendary, and the tier determines how good a certain piece of gear is, its selling value, and the items you can get by salvaging them.

As a general rule, you will want to sell your items only if you're strapped for gold. Gold is used for purchasing items and upgrading gear, so if you tend to do a lot of upgrading, you may spend huge amounts of gold often. At the same time, you will need materials to upgrade your gear, and the higher its rarity level is, the rarer the materials to upgrade it will be, so if you have an item with a good rarity, but you are not exactly hurting for gold, you should salvage it, as the materials you will get from it will help you upgrade your gear and improve your build.

Legendary items, which are the rarest type of gear in Diablo IV, and the most powerful, should always be salvaged if you do not need them for your build. Doing so will allow you to get Baleful Fragments and Coiling Wards for salvaging weapons and armor, respectively, as well as Veiled Crystals, items that are required to further upgrade your gear, and more. Additionally, you can extract Legendary Aspects from your Legendary Gear by salvaging them, which you can then apply to another piece of gear to further improve your build.  Also, If creating a cool look for your character is also your thing, you should salvage any item with a small pickaxe icon, as it will unlock a new option in your Wardrobe.

So, salvaging is almost always the way to go in Diablo IV, as by engaging with the game's world and special events, you are likely going to get more than enough gold for all your spending needs.
