Crimson Desert: How to Fly Faster (The Focus-Boost Movement Tech)

[Update 2 - April 13, 10:15 AM] With Patch 1.03.00, Pearl Abyss implemented the Focus-Boost movement tech in Crimson Desert as an official skill called Focused Aerial Roll. Instead of consuming Stamina, however, it consumes Spirit.

[Update - April 6, 5:04 AM] The Focus-Boost tech has been patched in game version 1.02.00. In this version of Crimson Desert, using Aerial Roll while in Focus cancels this state immediately, preventing you from using Unleash to gain a significant speed boost.

Original guide follows.

[Original] Crimson Desert features a lot of secret traversal and movement tech, such as a fast-travel trick based on the multiple playable characters system and the Aerial Stab skill, which makes exploring Pywel incredibly fun.

However, none of these tricks are as fun and useful as a newly discovered Focus-Boost movement tech, a physics exploit that boosts your flight speed by combining Aerial Roll and Focused Insight to let you cross significant distances with minimal stamina drain.

The Focus-Boost Tech

The community-named "Focus-Boost" advanced movement tech is based on three different skills.

  1. Aerial Roll: One of the abilities you can learn in the Red portion of the skill tree (the one centered on Health).
  2. Focus: Learned fairly early in the story.
  3. Focused Insight: An additional ability learned once you reach Focus Level 3.

Both Aerial Roll and Focused Insight require Abyss Artifacts to learn.

By combining these three in a specific sequence, you get a massive boost in flight speed. When paired with the lower stamina consumption for Flight introduced in Patch 1.01.00, this tech makes it possible to quickly traverse massive distances across Pywel.

How to Use the Focus-Boost

To execute this tech, you must follow this procedure:

  1. Launch into the air by either jumping, double jumping or using Aerial Force Palm and activate Flight with the Square/X button.
  2. Press R1+L1 to activate Focus. You will see the world slow down around you.
  3. Press Circle/B to activate Aerial Roll. Time will continue to be slowed during this animation.
  4. As soon as the Aerial Roll animation completes, press the R1/RB button to activate Insight.

The final input will propel you forward at a significantly greater speed than a standard glide.

Why It’s Worth Learning

While using this secret movement tech is not required to complete the game, it makes exploring Pywel much more fun. By combining it with other traversal skills, such as Aerial Maneuver and Aerial Swing, and having very high Stamina, you can reach all sorts of remote locations with ease, such as the summit of the Root's End Ruins to farm Abyss Gear.
