Important: This guide is specifically written for GSM Galaxy Nexus Takju and GSM Galaxy Nexus Yakju variants.
Pre requisites before you update Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean:
- Create a backup of all important data in your Galaxy device.
- Download and install USB drivers for Galaxy Nexus in your computer.
- Enable USB debugging option by pressing Menu > Settings > Applications. Navigate and tap on Developer Options to ensure that USB Debugging is enabled.
- Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy Nexus carries more than 80% of charge.
Note: The steps for both variants are same. Please be careful about the specific Google links shared and the text that you have to type.
How to install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OTA update on Galaxy Nexus Takju GSM variant:
- Download Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on-the-air update from this link: Google Server.
- Switch your device off. Simultaneously press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons until you see the fast-screen. Use volume keys to highlight and power key to select the Recovery.
- You'll now be seeing an screen with red exclamation mark. Press volume up and power buttons together until you get the stock recovery screen.
- Now, select ADB from Apply Update.
- Using USB data cable, connect your Nexus Takju to PC.
- Open the folder where you had downloaded the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Android update for Galaxy Nexus. Press Shift key and Right Click on an empty space on the screen. Select Open Command Prompt from here.
- Flash the OTA package. Type: adb sideload 472aafeb9fe3.signed-takju-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.472aafeb.zip
- Reboot your Galaxy Nexus when update is successfully installed.
Update Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OTA update on Galaxy Nexus Yakju GSM variant:
- Download Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on-the-air update from this link: Google Server
- Switch your device off. Simultaneously press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons until you see the fast-screen. Use volume keys to highlight and power key to select the Recovery.
- You'll now be seeing an screen with red exclamation mark. Press volume up and power buttons together until you get the stock recovery screen.
- Now, select ADB from Apply Update.
- Using USB data cable, connect your Nexus Takju to PC.
- Open the folder where you had downloaded the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Android update for Galaxy Nexus. Press Shift key and Right Click on an empty space on the screen. Select Open Command Prompt from here.
- Flash the OTA package. Type: adb sideload 07501b11ad3b.signed-yakju-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.07501b11.zip
- Restart your phone when the update is successfully installed.
