Team Cherry's Hollow Knight: Silksong is a smashing success, as evidenced by the overwhelmingly positive reviews and the estimated five million players across all platforms. With that said, there is one thing that the game lacks: multiplayer of any kind.
However, a mod now seeks to rectify that, at least on PC. Created by XvX, it aims to support basic Player versus Player online multiplayer fights. In the embedded video, we can see that it supports up to 30 players, though such a large number of players inevitably makes it very chaotic. The mod actually also enables co-op, but only for a single boss, Fourth Chorus, which has been modified to receive synchronized damage from all the players. Over time, the goal is to provide a full co-op experience as well.
If you're interested in trying this Hollow Knight: Silksong mod (which only works with the Steam version, at least for now), follow the creator's instructions that we have reported below.
- Unzip to the root directory (don't just dump the folder in with it).
- Once all players have into the main interface, the host clicks "Create Room(创建房间)" and then "Invite Players(邀请玩家)"
- After everyone agrees to the game invitation, enter the game.
- This only works with the official Steam version.
- The PvP configuration file is located in: Hollow Knight Silksong\BepInEx\config\com.XvX.cfg
Version 0.7.1 Warning: This version is of uncertain stability and is for testing purposes only.
In order to synchronize Fourth Chorus with this version, all players' save files must not have defeated Fourth Chorus. Everyone except the host must activate the boss first, then the host can activate it. The host's death will cause the boss to become uncontrollable. It is recommended that the host install a cheat. After others have revived, please do not return to the boss scene, as this may cause problems.
This is but one of several PC mods created for Hollow Knight: Silksong in the few weeks since its debut. There's the Luma HDR mod, the Relaxed Mode mod, and others that introduce various quality of life tweaks.
