The pricing question has hounded Grand Theft Auto 6 for the past couple of years, ever since Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter suggested that Rockstar Games could price the game at $100 and get away with it.
Several other analysts have since scoffed at the idea, but now that we are mere days from the opening of pre-orders (scheduled for Thursday, June 25) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X, the discovery that the Portuguese version of FNAC (a multinational retail chain that operates across France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, and several other markets) has listed the game for a base €90.
The info was first spotted by ResetEra user fdst1983, who posted a screenshot with several Rockstar Games SKUs featuring the correct GTA 6 launch date (November 19, 2026). The image shows the base SKU, RS1, at €89.99; a pricier SKU, RS4, at €119.99; and the most expensive one at €199.99, which would clearly be the Collector's Edition. The RS2 and RS3 SKUs are cropped out of the image, but we can expect them to fall between RS1 and RS4.
There have been placeholder listings for GTA 6 before, at various prices. However, the proximity of these listings to the actual pre-order opening, as well as the fact that they come from a major retailer, suggests that FNAC could actually have the right info.
If that's true, then Pachter wasn't off by that much. A retail price of €90 would be the same price Nintendo demanded of Mario Kart World last year, shocking the industry, and it wouldn't be far off from the $100 he had predicted well over a year ago. It should be clarified that Mario Kart World, at least, was €10 cheaper when purchased digitally - hopefully, that will be true for Grand Theft Auto 6, too.
The question is, then: would you still buy GTA 6 at the price, if Rockstar Games confirmed it next Thursday? Vote in the poll below, and feel free to share a comment as well.
