Pixel 10 Pro Fold leak

With the Made by Google event approaching, the spotlight seems to be on the upcoming Pixel devices and what they would bring about. Many leaks and speculations about the Pixel 10 lineup have emerged, giving away some major insights. Based on all this information, it seems like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the most feature-rich device in the company's series. A recent leak now claims that the device could support the Qi2 wireless charging standard. Another fresh, detailed specifications sheet leak reveals more upgrades the upcoming device could come with, and we are here for it.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold set to support Qi2 wireless charging, but magnets may be case-only

A renowned tipster, Evan Blass, has now claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Google's upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be Qi2 compliant. Given his past claims, which have substantial weight and align with earlier reports, we could finally see this leap in charging technology with the upcoming device. While the upgrade is a major improvement, there is still ambiguity regarding built-in magnets. The next-generation wireless charging standard comes in two modes: baseline power profile (BPP) and magnetic power profile (MPP). As per the leak, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold would support the BPP mode only, which moves the magnets to the case instead of the device.

This improvement would help deliver more consistent charging performance and energy efficiency, and is a jump over the older standard, making daily charging faster and hassle-free. By skipping the integrated magnets and opting for a magnetic case instead, Google would help keep the Pixel 10 Pro Fold more structurally sound and maintain a light and slim form factor.

Just when we thought we had seen enough of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold leaks, a fresh one has emerged that claims the device could end up being the most exciting foldable of the year. On the hardware side, as per a detailed spec sheet shared by WinFuture, the foldable is tipped to ship with UFS 4.0 storage in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options, which is a first storage upgrade in the last four Pixel generations, as Google has been relying on the UFS 3.1 storage since 2021. It would also come with 16GB RAM and be powered by Google's Tensor G5 chip built on TSMC's 3nm process, delivering 36% performance gains over the Tensor G4.

There is also a major leap in terms of durability as the foldable would be coming with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating — a first for any Google foldable phone. The battery capacity would also see a bump to 5,015mAh, along with 23W wired and 15W wireless charging. The camera setup is expected to remain unchanged from the previous model, and the display upgrades are also minor, with the cover screen moving from 6.3 inches to 6.4 inches and featuring a 120Hz refresh rate with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

While the Qi2 support is a step forward and would help bring in more efficiency, the IP68 rating seems like a bigger story, given how dust ingress is a major weak point for foldables. A larger battery and faster wireless charging could end up making the device the most practical Google foldable to date. Given how Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 is considered a powerful foldable device, adding these upgrades to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could make it the better bet.
