Google has just announced that there are over 1 billion active users with RCS enabled on Google Messages. The company has decided to celebrate this milestone with several new features across the app. You are now getting Photomojis, voice recordings, and deeper customization.
Google Messages just got a ton of new features thanks to the RCS user base crossing 1 billion
Google Messages will now give users the ability to customize bubble colors as well as background colors on a per-conversation basis. You also have access to Custom Bubbles, which are actually synced between the sender and the receiver. You can check out how the custom bubbles work below:
In addition to that, there are three new emoji features too. Google Messages will now have animated visual effects whenever you send or receive an emoji. There are also reaction effects which, according to Google, will make your conversations more life-like.
As far as the reaction effects on Google Messages are concerned, you can have a look at them in the video below:
Google Messages is also getting a new voice message redesign, and of course, the Noise Cancellation feature is also making its way to the app. The purpose here is to make sure that it is not only easy for users to record voice messages, but when they do record it, they don't have to deal with background noise, which can be an issue for a lot of people, especially during transit.
The Google Messages app is also getting new Screen Effects. According to Google, these effects will “transform your words into dazzling visual displays." You can check the video below to see how these work:
Last but not least, Google Messages is officially getting the profiles feature, which has appeared a number of times in the past. The feature is simple, as it will let you set your profile name, picture, and your phone number. The profile will sync across the Google services, so you are in luck because you won't have to keep altering the profile.
All the features are rolling out to Google Messages in the beta channel and should make their way to a stable channel in no time.
There is no denying that RCS has become a lot more popular, and with Apple finally adopting the RCS messaging standard, this is a great time for Google Messages to receive these new features that would make texting a breeze for everyone.
