EVO-X3 Is Going To Be A Powerful Workstation PC For Local AI As GMKtec Crams 128 GB Memory & Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 In A PS4-Sized Chassis

Last year, we tested the newly launched GMKtec EVO-X2 Mini PC. The system features the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, and is a strong competitor to the NVIDIA DGX Spark, featuring a much lower price point. The company is now launching a follow-up to this PC, the EVO-X3.

The GMKtec EVO-X3 is going to be even better, with the same Ryzen AI MAX chip and upgraded IO. The first and most important upgrade is the OCuLink (PCIe Gen4 x4) port, which will allow users to run a discrete graphics card externally. This will enable much faster eGPU support than the previous USB4 ports. Besides that, the system will come with Wi-Fi 7 support, USB4 ports, dual PCIe 4.0 drive bays for storage, and a much larger footprint than the X3.

EVO-X3 is much taller than the EVO-X2, but also slimmer at the same time. The taller height allows the company to cram even more thermal headroom with larger fans and exhaust vents. The fans are 41mm ultra-thin design with metal blades, and the system will house triple-fan cooling. The system itself will feature up to 140W power and will come with Balanced and Performance modes rated at 54/80W.

The system will be launching with 128 GB as standard, operating at 8000 MT/s, but we were told that the company is also working on a Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 variant, which will pack 192 GB of LPDDR5X memory. This will enable support for larger AI models and unified memory support for the GPU up to 160 GB. The reference configuration will come with 2 TB of storage capacity.

  • Local AI Computing - Enable developers and advanced users to run and test large language models locally with reduced latency, improved privacy, and full offline capability.
  • Creative Workloads - Support 3D rendering, video production, and professional design workflows with high memory bandwidth and sustained performance.
  • Enterprise Edge Deployment - Serve as a lightweight computing node for IT infrastructure, education, healthcare, and government applications requiring localized compute resources.
  • High-Density Performance in a Compact Design - Despite its compact footprint, EVO-X3 delivers flagship-level performance with configurations up to 128GB memory and 2TB / 4TB storage options, positioning it as a powerful alternative to traditional desktop workstations.

GMKtec is also bringing its Claw+Wrangler AI suite to the EVO-X3, offering 24/7 local Agent and local inference capabilities. This allows users to take advantage of AI with zero token costs and zero cloud dependency.

Currently, there's no word on pricing, but the Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 should retail at a higher price than the 395 variant due to its larger 192 GB memory and the new chip. Availability of the EVO-X3 is expected to be real soon, while the 495 variant will be coming later this year. Early Access will be open on 22nd June, and there will be a $20 discount for Early Birds. The official launch will happen on the 29th of June at 12 AM PST.
