The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs are gradually dropping down to their official MSRPs. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 are the latest on the list.
NVIDIA RTX 5080 Drops From Over 200,000 Yen to 170,000 Yen, While the RTX 5070 Ti Saw a Smaller Discount, but Still Price is Now Lower Than MSRP
A few days back, we reported that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 is getting price cuts in Japan and in other regions. This time, other high-end RTX 50 series GPUs such as the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti have seen gradual yet impressive price drops. The GPUs that were launched a few months ago are finally seeing better availability, and therefore, the price drops are natural.
As Gazlog reports, the GeForce RTX 5080 has dropped to 169,980 Yen (US$1163), which is the lowest since launch. The GPU was launched at 198,800 Yen (US$1362), but sold for over 210,000 Yen (US$1439). The price drop is roughly 20% lower than the peak prices and about 15% from the official MSRP. The RTX 5080 was launched at $999 in the NA region, but in Japan, you usually see higher prices due to additional costs such as customs clearance and shipping.
Keep in mind that the 169,980 Yen is the lowest cost one can currently find for an RTX 5080 and, in this scenario, it's the Gainward GeForce RTX 5080 Phoenix, which is reported to be on a limited-time deal on TSUKUMO. Shockingly, on stores like Amazon, many RTX 5080 editions are still way over 200,000 Yen, but then there are some like the ZOTAC RTX 5080 Amp Extreme Infinity and Galakuro RTX 5080, which are listed for less than 200,000 Yen on TSUKUMO.
As for the RTX 5070 Ti, a Palit GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Pro-S edition was briefly listed for the below MSRP price. This GPU was priced at 139,980 Yen on Amazon, which is 6% below the MSRP of 148,800 Yen. The official launch price of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is $749, but you will usually find the GPU for over US$1000 in Japan. This is the first custom edition to drop below $1000, but there is another RTX 5070 Ti edition, which is listed below the MSRP on TSUKUMO.
Looks like the entire RTX 50 lineup will soon drop closer to their announced MSRPs, but it will take a couple more weeks. Budget GPUs like the GeForce RTX 5060 are already available for their price tags on stores like Amazon and Newegg. The GeForce RTX 5070 is also dropping closer to $600, but we recommend waiting instead of spending an extra $100-$200.
