Samsung is making minor improvements to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and while we can agree that the upcoming flagship’s lack of a battery upgrade will rub potential buyers the wrong way, the latest report talks about how the company will introduce a new layer of privacy with something called ‘Flex Magic Pixel.’ This technology debuted at the 2024 Mobile World Congress and leverages AI to control the OLED’s pixels and adjust viewing angles to introduce a similar effect to those privacy-protection films. In short, those who do not want wandering eyes looking at what they are currently doing on the Galaxy S26 Ultra will consider the smartphone as their daily driver.
The Flex Magic Pixel technology will work in unison with CoE, making the Galaxy S26 Ultra the first ‘candy bar’ smartphone to adopt these additions
With Samsung already taking advantage of agentic AI for devices with smaller batteries like the Galaxy S25 Edge, Dealsite reports that the Korean giant is extending its artificial intelligence reach to other components to upgrade the user experience. With the details spotted by tipster @Jukanlosreve, we learn that Samsung has been developing the technology for a while, but it will be the first time it will enter mass production. Apart from the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Flex Magic Pixel might also arrive to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
In short, the technology negates the need for applying a privacy-protection film, and while these accessories have their uses, the overall brightness levels of displays can be reduced, leading to decreased visibility. With Flex Magic Pixel, no additional protectors have to be added, and as mentioned above, AI will help to boost the user’s privacy. For instance, when the Galaxy S26 Ultra opens an app, AI will precisely create an effect similar to attaching a privacy-protection film.
Flex Magic Pixel was showcased at the K-Display 2025 this year, but given that only the Galaxy S26 Ultra has been mentioned in the report, there is a high possibility that the latter is the only recipient of this technology. This will make Samsung’s upcoming top-end smartphone the only ‘candy bar’ device to feature both Flex Magic Pixel and CoE (Color Filter on Encapsulation). For those who do not know, CoE replaces the polarizer in OLEDs with a color filter, printing it on top of the thin-film encapsulation (TFT) and replacing the conventional pixel define layer (PDL) with black PDL.
This approach displays pure blacks and enables better visibility outdoors. Samsung might have decided to introduce CoE and Flex Magic Pixel in the Galaxy S26 Ultra because industry experts believe that Color Filter on Encapsulation technology is necessary for incorporating the privacy-focused technology. CoE can offset the amount of light lost when Flex Magic Pixel is activated, leading to a better viewing experience. There is no word on whether Samsung intends to sell this technology to its partners, but we will update our readers in the future, so stay tuned.
