Now that the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its siblings are official, Samsung and Google have announced a new multi-year partnership, and this partnership will allow Google Cloud's generative artificial intelligence to be available on Samsung phones around the world. The new AI partnership will start with the latest flagships, making Samsung the first company to deploy Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI via the cloud on the latest phones.
Samsung and Google's partnership will make the Galaxy S24 series among the most powerful AI-powered smartphones
“Google and Samsung have long shared deeply held values around the importance of making technology more helpful and accessible for everyone. We’re thrilled that the Galaxy S24 series is the first smartphone equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI,” said Janghyun Yoon, Corporate EVP and Head of Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “After months of rigorous testing and competitive evaluation, the Google Cloud and Samsung teams worked together to deliver the best Gemini-powered AI experience on Galaxy.”
With the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung will become the first company to partner with Google with the deployment of the Gemini Pro on Vertex AI. This technology has been built from the ground up to be multimodal. Gemini will be able to generalize, understand, and operate across multiple types and streams of information, ranging from text, code, images, and video. Users will be able to take advantage of summarization across various services such as Notes, Voice Recorder, Samsung Keyboard, and more.
In addition to that, Galaxy S24 users will also be able to benefit from Imagen 2. This is Google's most advanced text-to-image diffusion technology from Google DeepMind. Samsung users can benefit from safe and intuitive photo-editing capabilities, which will be available as Generative Edit in the Samsung Gallery App.
Needless to say, Samsung kept its promise with the Galaxy S24 series, and I cannot wait to see what more the devices have to offer. After all, with so many features coming to the new phones, it is only a matter of time before we are able to see what these devices can do. Based on all the previews we have seen, these devices are pretty impressive in terms of AI, and considering how it is artificial intelligence, you can expect a lot more improvements in the coming months.
