The Galaxy S23 debuted with One UI 5.1, which introduced some pretty neat features across the board. Even though the update was not massive, it had significant changes under the hood. One feature was Astro Hyperlapse; as the name suggests, it was a feature that would let you make some stunning hyperlapse videos. Users were under the impression that this feature is One UI 5.1 exclusive and will be available on older phones once the update starts rolling out, but that is not the case.
Astro Hyperlapse is another feature that Samsung has limited to the Galaxy S23 as it is missing from older phones
The One UI 5.1 started rolling out to all supported phones yesterday. It seems that the Astro Hyperlapse is a Galaxy S23-exclusive feature as it is only available on new phones and not on older phones, including the Galaxy S22 phones. This might frustrate users but remember, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S23 phones are a lot similar, and Samsung would need a way to make sure that there is a difference between both devices.
Astro Hyperlapse is not the only feature missing from the older Galaxy phones. Yesterday, we talked about how the feature to remove objects from pictures is also limited to Galaxy S23 phones and is not working on older devices.
So far, it is evident that Samsung has removed some of the One UI 5.1 features and has kept it limited to the Galaxy S23. I've been using the latest One UI 5.1 on my Galaxy S22 Ultra since it came out, and my experience has been nothing short of solid, but it is a shame that Samsung is curtailing software-based features, which would have made the overall experience on older smartphones even better.
