Five Ryzen 9000 CPUs Killed In A Single Day By ASRock Motherboards

The saga continues, and the reports are now surfacing more frequently than ever. ASRock remains the top killer of Ryzen CPUs.

Multiple Ryzen 9000 CPUs Dead Reports Surface on Reddit; Ryzen 9800X3D, 9950X3D, 9600X, and 9700X Killed on ASRock Motherboards

It's crazy to think how fast the dead CPU reports are piling up, and from a 6-core non-X3D to a 16-core X3D CPU, nothing appears to be safe. We reported yesterday that at least four Ryzen 5 9600X dead CPUs were found in a single month, but today we have gathered five different Ryzen CPU failure cases, comprising various Ryzen 9000 SKUs. Not surprisingly, all of them were killed on ASRock motherboards.

The first and most recent case was reported by u/RobotRollCall24, who had earlier expressed concerns in a separate thread about a dead Ryzen CPU. Unfortunately, he too became a victim of such an incident today and reports a dead Ryzen 5 9600X. He used the ASRock B850 Pro-A motherboard and explained the whole incident. Even after managing to upgrade his BIOS to the latest 4.03, he still couldn't get his system to boot.

Then there are two cases of dead Ryzen 7 9700X CPUs. The Redditor u/jesseleh confirmed the death of his CPU on the ASRock B850M-X motherboard, and his system doesn't boot, despite spending three days troubleshooting. This was another classic case of CPU and DRAM debug LEDs remaining lit. Then there is u/swissWerwolf, whose Ryzen 9700X failed on the ASRock X870 PRO RS, which has probably killed the most Ryzen CPUs. His system had been running since August 2025, but he too later encountered an unexpected CPU debug LED lighting up.

The fourth case involves the u/Evening_Calender_331's system that comprised the Ryzen 7 9800X3D on the ASRock X870E Taichi motherboard. Interestingly, his CPU died on the latest BIOS version 4.03. So, despite what the manufacturers recommend, the latest BIOS versions do not help much in mitigating the failures. Some users even suggest rolling back to version 3.50 for better stability.

The fifth victim of the dead CPU was u/tminx49, who could no longer boot into the BIOS since his AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D died on the ASRock X870E Nova WiFi motherboard. His motherboard shows a "00" code, which confirms a dead CPU. He has been using his system since May 2025, but now he has applied for RMA.
