Over the past few days, messages from the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth development team were shared online to provide some new information on the second part of the remake trilogy launching during Winter 2023 on PlayStation 5. Some of these messages provided some rather obvious information, but it seems like they are hiding some information about the game's story.

As theorized by @aitaikimochi, the words highlighted in green in the messages are providing hints at the game's story, hints that were lost in the English language versions of the messages. The words are all references to the multiple timelines that were hinted at in Final Fantasy VII Remake, Zack's personal story (steep freedom), and the location of destiny.

While this may sound like some wild speculation, we must not forget that Tetsuya Nomura, who did something similar in the past for the Kingdom Hearts series, is involved in the development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, so it really wouldn't be surprising to learn that this is not exactly some wild speculation from a dedicated fan. With more messages to be shared in the coming days, the picture will definitely get clearer very soon.

Very little is currently known about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, other than the fact that it will launch on PlayStation 5 sometime during Winter 2023. One of the developer messages hinted at a much more open-ended adventure, so it definitely seems like the game won't be on rails like its predecessor. Additionally, the game will take advantage of the PlayStation 5's power and SSD to elevate the experience further, and its story may deviate from the original further, which, again, wouldn't be surprising with all the hints of alternate timelines seen in Remake.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is currently in development for PlayStation 5. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
