Embark Studios has pushed a new patch to ARC Raiders today, which adds a new outfit set and two new haircuts for players to customize their characters with, on top of several bug fixes. But it's not what's added with today's patch that makes the latest update from Embark significant.
Last week, major server issues caused players to lose their loadouts in ARC Raiders, even after they had successfully extracted from the Rust Belt and made it safely back to Speranza. While being adamant that the studio does not normally compensate players for every incident where players lose their loot through no fault of their own, the studio has decided to make an exception due to the significant number of players who were impacted.
"Last week's server issues caused some of you to lose your loadouts even after a successful extraction," the studio writes in its blog post. "We are reviewing these cases and will return items where possible over the next few days. While we do not normally offer compensation for every incident, this outage impacted a large number of players, so we are making an exception. Thanks for bearing with us while we sorted it out."
It's good to see that Embark will be giving players their stuff back. Yes, the whole idea of an extraction shooter is that you're risking your gear every time you enter a round, but when you've made it out successfully, and you lose your loadout because of something you could not have avoided, it stings far worse than losing your loadout through regular gameplay.
Hopefully, server issues like last week's don't persist, and players don't have to rely on the off chance that Embark will give them their stuff back if they lost it after a successful extraction.
