A blind test was conducted by Computer Base, which revealed that gamers often prefer DLSS 4.5 image quality to be superior to FSR 4.1.
Out of Seven Games, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Wins Six Times in Blind Test Conducted by Computer Base, Suggesting Gamers Believe DLSS 4.5 is Superior to FSR 4.1
NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 is the leading upscaling technology from Team Green, while FSR 4.1 remains the flagship upscaler by Team Red. We have seen how incredibly powerful these upscaling technologies are in terms of visual quality. Unlike previous versions, both offer the best possible visuals through better sharpening, reduction of noise, and better motion clarity.
However, it can be hard to determine which offers the best quality unless a side-by-side comparison is conducted. This is what Computer Base previously did, where the DLSS 4.5 won easily. Once again, the new testing allowed gamers to take a look at the gameplay where FSR 4.0, FSR 4.1, and DLSS 4.5 clips were adjusted side by side. Users were given the option to compare the results in split-screen mode, and by offering seven different triple-A titles, they were allowed to vote for the best image quality scene.
After registering the inputs of users in games that included titles like Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Anno 117: Pax Romana, Arc Raiders, Resident Evil Requiem, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and The Last of US Part 1, the final results were shared. The voting revealed that in most scenarios, gamers preferred DLSS 4.5 as the best upscaler for superior visual quality. FSR 4.1 came in second position in most cases, and FSR 4.0 remained at the 3rd spot in all games.
The Last of Us Part 1 remained the only game where DLSS 4.5 lost to FSR 4.1, and the difference in the number of votes for each upscaler was quite big. In most cases, many voted for the "No difference" option, which indicates that a large section of gamers don't find the visual differences noticeable. Still, in most cases, the latest Transformer model for the DLSS 4.5 appears to be doing a great job, as despite FSR 4.1's good progress over FSR 4.0, most gamers prefer NVIDIA's upscaler.
