The fantasy action/adventure game Echoes of the End launched in August to mixed reviews. Our own David Carcasole rated it 5.7 out of 10 in Wccftech's official review:

Echoes of the End has more bad than good to it, and the jank of its technical issues running throughout all aspects of the game bring down even its best elements, like its strong visual presentation, character-driven storytelling, and some fun platforming and puzzle challenges. The combat both overall fails to innovate and pass the standard bar for interesting, and as a whole package it's likely not worth your time when you need to get five-chapters deep in a 10-chapter story to get to its best bits.

Icelandic developer Myrkur Games has not despaired, though, and an Enhanced Edition is now available as a major free update. According to the developers, nearly every aspect of the game has been improved, starting with the combat. The animations have been retimed or tweaked to provide a smoother experience, both in and out of combat, to make it feel more grounded and responsive. Boss and enemy animations have also been reworked. There are also significant changes to ranged enemies, a smoother input buffering, and new environmental hazards that interact with the player's abilities to create more dynamic combat scenarios.

Echoes of the End Enhanced Edition also added a customization system with 13 outfits and over 20 relics that are meant to meaningfully shape the player's playstyle. Outfit schematics are unlocked through game progression and are crafted with resources found in chests.

The game will also feel faster-paced, as Myrkur has reduced the number of menial puzzles and increased the rate of progression. Chests now provide more experience, for instance. The tutorial and the first chapter have been overhauled, too. nd an overhaul of the game's first chapter.

The Enhanced Edition adds a new difficulty level, Journey, which is now standard difficulty between the existing Story and Adventure modes. Lastly, there's also a New Game+ mode that adds eight new elite enemy types with powerful abilities that transform the combat encounters and provide a more challenging experience for a second playthrough.

To celebrate the launch of Echoes of the End Enhanced Edition, the game is currently 40% off.
