After layoffs at Skate developer Full Circle just last week, the remainder of the team at EA's studio continues to work on updating the game with new content, the latest of which is Season 3: Fluid Flashback, which begins on March 10, 2026, and promises to bring skaters "back to skateboarding's first major era," which it describes as a time when "polyurethane wheels replaced clay and metal ones," and when the sport began to grow and evolve rapidly.
That means elements of San Vansterdam will be taken back to the 1970s, "with vibrant colors and bold designs." Areas like Rolling Waves, The Block Party, House of Rolling Reverence, Eelside Tunnels, The Skateway, and more are getting a 70s refresh.
Season 3 will also let players return to the tutorial level, the Isle of Grom, which won't just be the level that you remember playing through the first time you jumped into Skate. It's getting its own overhaul, "with all-new lines and even bigger skate vibes." Players who purchase the Season 3 Premium Pass will be able to check out this new and improved Isle of Grom on March 10, 2026, while everyone else will be able to jump in a little more than a month later on April 14, 2026.
The team says that it has pulled inspiration from Skate 2 and Skate 3 to improve the Isle of Grom, and added plenty of challenges and tasks to keep you busy once you get your wheels down on the island. After its grand opening event for all players on April 14 ends on May 5, only players who purchase the premium pass will be able to access it. Alternatively, you can purchase a day pass using 500 Rip Chips to get 24 hours on the island.
Other significant updates include a new shortcut through the Tri Tower Parking Garage, as well as improvements to the replay editor, a batch of new dark tricks, the introduction of party collision (which players can opt-into if they want), and one of the most requested features when it comes to customizing your skater, the introduction of tattoos.
Tattoo designs will continue to be added to the game with more artists adding their work to Skate, and for this initial iteration, players will be able to place them on their skater's arms and legs, resizing, rotating, and repositioning them however they like. Season 3 will include 52 unique designs that get added throughout the season.
You'll also be able to customize three loadouts for your skaters that you can swap between, meaning you don't have to reset your favourite looks if you feel like you want to change things up. Everyone gets three character loadouts for their skaters, but if you want more than three options, you'll have to buy them through in-game purchases at 250 SVB per loadout. You're allowed to have a maximum of ten loadouts.
It's unfortunate that something like having more than just three saved versions of your favourite character customizations is locked behind in-game purchases, but that's also the nature of microtransaction-riddled games where the aesthetic and cosmetic aspects are what you're paying for.
On that note, the Skate Pass will also include a fresh batch of challenges and rewards for players to work through, both on the free and paid tracks of the Skate Pass. Season 3's pass introduces more than 50 new challenges and tasks, while also bringing back some from the first two seasons.
