After Season 2 of the best-selling game in 2025 was delayed, causing a great deal of strife within the game's community, EA and Battlefield Studios aren't allowing for the same gap between Season 2 and Season 3 of Battlefield 6. The new season will arrive next week on May 12, 2026, and the studios just debuted our first look at the new season and a tease at what will be the largest map in the game when it arrives with the return of the Railway to Golmud.

Season 2 arrived back on February 17, making it a more reasonable 12-week season compared to the drawn-out 16-week season that was Season 1. Hopefully, future seasons don't suffer similar delays that Season 2 did, especially because it is starting to feel like the Battlefield Studios teams are picking up some speed and momentum with what's coming in Season 3 and what's on the horizon for Season 4.

Season 3 brings back one of the most beloved maps in the series with Railway to Golmud and also simultaneously adds the game's largest map so far, while also adding new weapons and attachments. Perhaps most importantly, though, at least for REDSEC players, a Ranked Queue for REDSEC finally arrives, as the battle royale mode starts to flesh out a little more.

Railway to Golmud isn't the only map getting added this season though, as it'll also introduce the smaller revamp of Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar with the Cairo Bazaar joining the game in Season 3. The season also adds a new game mode titled Obliteration.

The gameplay trailer above shows off a little bit of everything coming in Season 3, and while it all looks exciting, hopefully this new season is capable of reviving the game's community, which hasn't seen anywhere close to its launch peaks for concurrent players on Steam in months.

If Season 3 is able to build a good amount of momentum, that'll really help for Season 4, which is arguably the one that die-hard Battlefield fans are really waiting for, since that is the season that'll introduce naval warfare.

But that won't arrive until July 2026, so for now, we look to next week and the start of Season 3.
