The Alienware lineup gets two more Aurora gaming laptop models, both featuring the upcoming GeForce RTX 5060 GPU paired with Intel CPUs.
Dell Debuts RTX 5060-Powered Alienware Aurora Gaming Laptops, Starting at $1,599
NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 5060 is going to power both desktops and laptops. The desktop GPU will be officially unveiled on 19th May, and on the same day, we will see some laptop manufacturers launching their newest gaming laptops with the RTX 5060 GPU. One of them is Dell, which has introduced its two new models in the Alienware lineup.
Dell's Alienware is getting Alienware 16 and Alienware 16X Aurora gaming laptops, which will be powered by the GeForce RTX 5060 mobile GPU, featuring 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM. Both will be equipped with Intel CPUs, but the 16X will feature the Core Ultra 9 275HX, while the Alienware 16 will be based on a weaker and more budget-friendly Intel Core 9 270H processor, which is a Raptor Lake-H refresh chip.
While the Core 9 270H is a 14-core processor with hybrid architecture, the Core Ultra 9 275HX is a 24-core monster chip from the current-gen Arrow Lake-HX family. Therefore, the Alienware 16X will be more suitable for crunching larger numbers and will offer great productivity performance. While both models can have different GPU options with up to an RTX 5070, users who want to cut down the cost even further can opt for the RTX 4050 paired with Core 7 240H at $1,149.
The cheapest RTX 5060-based gaming laptop is the Alienware 16, which starts at $1,599 and offers 16 GB DDR5 memory and a 1 TB SSD for storage. The Alienware 16X comes with twice the RAM and storage capacity as the Alienware 16 and costs $1,949. Dell's product pages list out all the tech specs of the laptops, and we can see a clear difference in both core hardware and connectivity between the two. However, externally, both look quite identical to each other, except for the RGB-backlit keyboard on the 16X.
The connectivity on the 16X includes a fast Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps) port with DP 2.1, while the Alienware 16 is limited to USB Type-C 10 Gbps ports. The 16X also has superior camera quality, which can record 1080p at 30fps compared to 720p at 30fps on the 16. Nonetheless, a lot of stuff is similar on both, including wireless connectivity, with Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 available on each model.
Even though currently the laptops show "Sold Out", they aren't yet available due to launch embargo, which should be lifted on 19th May.
